I'm in Santa Clarita, CA for another month or so. We've been here since April, so Bob can work for the summer. It's been such a good experience. At first I didn't want to come, but I'm so glad I did!
I have the opportunity to take pole lessons from the amazing Zoraya Judd. The last 2 days I got to babysit her children while she went to a huge Hollywood birthday party and while she was with clients from Australia. She's totally awesome! We're trading time. I do about 20 hours of babysitting for 1 hour of lessons. It may not be really even time wise, but in reality my time babysitting is not equal to her time teaching pole, so 20 hours really does equal 1 in this case. And it's totally worth it!
Her house is beautifully decorated in her amazon woman style. She has the most supportive husband and her boys are so stinking cute! One of them is autistic, he's 6. He's really smart and independent. The other one is 7 and rocks a shoulder length hair cut.
Monday night I watched them from 5:30-10:30. The kids played on the Wii and watched the Wild Kratts. It's really cool how much information they can retain from a TV show. I was totally amazed. I also played on the trampoline with Izrael (the 6-year-old). He was laughing almost the whole time, it was so fun to see him catch on to different games quickly.
Yesterday(Tuesday), I took them to the pool for 7 hours. Yes, they stayed for 7 hours. They didn't want to leave. Zoraya brought us lunch so we didn't have to leave to get food and then come back. Noa (the 7-year-old) liked riding on my back and he's a really good swimmer. We all got a bit too much sun, of course this morning I was very pink*, as I expected for that much of sun exposure. I asked Zoraya how the boys' skin turned out this morning, and of course theirs turned into tans overnight. Lucky kids. They even went to the beach today, more sun for them.
I'm so excited! They are some of the coolest people I've ever met. Another cool things is they are in my ward for church and got married in the same place as me and Bob!
*I put on coconut oil and Frankincense oil and it doesn't hurt. It's already started turning into a tan in a few places :)

Quotes
From my last post you read about two books I've read recently. I think part of me doing more than I used to was because I wrote some quotes down and put them on my wall. I thought I'd share them with you. If they don't have an author they are just lines from my books.
The Slight Edge:
"Goals are dreams with deadlines."
"Mastery is not an exalted state that lies at the end of the path, it is a state of mind that lies at the very beginning."
"Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do."
"It's never too late to start. It's always too late to wait."
"Sow an act, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny."
"You want a miracle? Be the miracle."
"Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal."
"Have you ever seen a statue erected for a critic? We don't build statues for the 95% we build them for the 5%."
"Successful people look at a problem and see opportunity."
Winston Churchill- "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Faust- "Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."
Thomas J. Watson- "The formula for success is quite simple: double your rate of failure."
Harvey Mackay- "Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back."
Shakespeare (Hamlet Act 1 Scene 3 Polonius)- "This above all, to thine own self be true; and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man."
John D. MacDonald- "Integrity is not a conditional word. It doesn't blow in the wind or change with the weather."
Jeff Olson- "Greatness is always in the moment of the decision."
Napolean Hill- "There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it."
Lao Tzu- "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a small step."
Ralph Waldo Emerson- "Do the thing and you shall have the power."
Start With Why:
"People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it."
"Why did we start doing what we're doing in the first place, and what can we do to bring out cause to life considering all the technologies and market opportunities available today."
"...if you're not consistent in the things you say and do, no one will know what you believe."
Herb Kelleher- "You don't hire for skills, you hire for attitude. You can always teach skills."

Books
Lately I've been reading, a lot more than normal. The last book I read was "The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines Into Massive Success." It's an awesome book! Basically it discusses how doing small things every day leads you to have better success in the future for whatever you want to accomplish. Here's the cover:
The book I'm currently reading is "Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action." I also quite enjoy this book. This one discusses how you can inspire others and that if you know and understand why you are doing something you're more likely to be successful. Here's the cover:
You can probably tell that I want to be successful in my life with the goals that I've set for myself. I highly recommend reading both of these books, even if you aren't planning on running a business or being high up in the corporate world. I think they are great books for everyone to read. They are life changing books. I've read a lot of these kinds of books, but these two have really stuck with me.
Before I read them, I was pretty lazy. I went to work and then came home and spent most of the rest of the day on the computer doing nonsense things (Molly, I don't play FB games anymore). The cleanliness of my house suffered throughout the week then I'd pick up on the weekends. The stacks of "to do" lists and projects would sit untouched until a deadline would show up and I'd HAVE to do it. But since putting these books to work (after the holidays and vacations) I've refurbished a dresser, organized 3/4 of my house, made a dress (and a few other items), and read 2 more books; among my normal tasks and duties.
Today I'm supposed to go grocery shopping, but the weather isn't permitting and I'd prefer not to risk an accident. So instead I'm going to work on my Valentine's Dress, finish the laundry, make dinner, exercise, sew my pointe shoes and read more of my book. I may not get it all done, but I can say I tried and at the very least I will have gotten something accomplished. :)

doTerra
I signed up for doTerra in November 2012. I LOVE it!
doTerra is an essential oil company. They have so many wonderful products besides oils, but for now I mainly use the oils.
At first I was skeptical, but I thought I'd try it out anyway. My favorite thing about them is that there are no side effects to them, unlike many medications. doTerra makes their oils as pure as possible through a process they call Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG). Basically they test every batch of oils they manufacture for impurities. If they find anything in the oil that taints it's purity (pesticide, bacteria, heavy metals, etc) they don't use it.
Here are a few examples of what oils I use most and how I use them:
Peppermint- This one is big in my family because my husband loves peppermint, or really minty everything. He also has IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) which makes his tummy not so happy. Anyway, he puts a drop or two in his water every day and he doesn't feel pain or sickness from it anymore. He's also not throwing up like he used to. He says, "No medicine on the market has ever worked, but this does. It's soothing." We also have Peppermint Beads. They are awesome for me because when my tummy hurts I take one of them instead of putting the Peppermint in water (they are extremely potent).
Lavender- I get motion sick all the time, especially if I'm not the one driving our car. Recently we went on a cruise (of course I took my oils with me). I hate taking Dramamine because it takes forever to work, and I end up being just as sick after I take it as I was before. Well, in my little booklet it says to rub the Lavender oil behind your ears to help with motion sickness (I put coconut oil on first then the Lavender. For me the Lavender is so strong my skin burns slightly. The coconut oil dilutes the Lavender a little bit so that I don't feel anything when I put it on). I tried it and it worked within a few minutes! I only reapplied a few times for the whole week. The first cruise I went on I had never heard of doTerra, and so I used Dramamine. I did three times as much on this cruise than my first one because I was hardly sea/motion sick. Bob also cut has hand pretty badly on broken glass the day before he left. We put some lavender on it and then a band-aid over it and by the time we got home from the cruise it was completely healed and you can barely see a scar.
Lemon- I use a drop of lemon in each wash load of laundry. I love lemon because it makes my clothes smell good without being overpowering (I don't get fragranced detergent because the smells are so strong/overpowering and makes me itch).
Wild Orange- Depression. If anyone has ever told you they hate their antidepressant they should definitely try Wild Orange oil. I've been on a few antidepressants in the past and I absolutely hated them. The first few weeks on them were horrible. I felt jittery and extremely "up" for awhile before my body got used to them, then I was a zombie. I didn't feel anything. I couldn't cry. I wasn't myself and that was no fun. I had enough of that and stopped taking them cold turkey (which was also horrible with headaches and being irritable all the time, no bueno). Between then and November 2010 (when I started using doTerra), I was an emotional roller coaster regularly. Now I'm doing much better. I either take 2-4 drops in a capsule everyday or I put a few drops in my water and drink it throughout the day. I'm happier and not as roller coaster-y as before. It's been nice. I also don't over sleep as much, and I'm getting more accomplished during the day.
Melaleuca- Most people know this as tea tree oil. This one I'm most familiar with since I have used other brands in the past. I definitely get better results with doTerra's than I did with any of the other brands. Most recently I've used Melaleuca on a rash and it was gone in 2 days. Anti-fungal cream/ointments usually take 4-6 days for me to get rid of a rash. Plus the creaminess of the ointments get all messy and you have to reapply every however many hours. With doTerra's Melaleuca, after about a minute the rash stops itching and I don't have yucky messes on my clothes because the oil absorbs quickly into my skin. Melaleuca also helps with Athlete's Foot.
On Guard (Essential Oil Blend)- This one is awesome! In December I got sick (my boss also got sick around the same time). I also had to work a ton at the time too (you know how the Christmas season can get). I couldn't take time off and nobody likes to go to work sick. Anyway, once I started feeling sick I immediately started taking On Guard. I'm not a fan of the taste, so I made On Guard capsules. I took one or two capsules a day each with about three or four drops. I was basically back to normal after four days. My boss on the on the other had was still sick. He even asked me why I was better and he wasn't. I gave him some capsules and he got better after a few days too. It took him a bit longer to get back to normal though because he had waited longer and his body was already tired from fighting the sickness.
Deep Blue- I rub my husband's back with a mixture of deep blue and coconut oil. He says he can feel his muscles relaxing almost instantly after putting it on. It also makes the job of working out his muscle knots a little easier for me.
In the next few weeks I'll be trying as many more oils and products from doTerra as I can. I don't have to pay insurance or go to the doctor or buy medications or anti-fungal/anti-itch stuff anymore I think it's worth it. I feel better and happier every day I use these oils. If you want more information or are just curious about doTerra feel free to visit my website www.mydoterra.com/diannaw.

My House!
Bob and I bought a house on June 29, 2012. Exciting huh? Well, here are some videos for those of you who would like to see it.
This video will take you from the front outside through the front rooms, bathroom, and bedroom.
This video will take you through the kitchen.
This video will take you through the basement.
This video will take you outside through the back door and back yard.
I hope you enjoyed seeing all the coolness that is my house. I love it. It's fun to have a place that is just yours, although we are renting out the basement apartment, it's still ours. After this semester is over and the people downstairs move out I'll give you a tour of the basement apartment.
If you noticed the floors and the bookshelf are painted. A previous owner had a shop in the big front room. It was called Nettie's Place. Funny thing; Bob's brother Jesse and his wife Kathleen rented out the basement apt and Kathleen worked in the shop.
Sometime in the next year we're planning on replacing the windows. They are so old and it's already freezing. Luckily, Norma (the lady we bought it from), replaced the roof last year. So that's one thing we don't have to worry about. After the windows, we'll probably rewire the house, then start the smaller projects like updating the apt, and putting carpet in the bedroom and possibly part of the living room.
Tell me what you think please!
Oh, and Molly, anytime you want to come over and garden in my backyard feel free! Haha!

Warning: Venting in Progress...
Everyone has had that job that they hate, right?
Well I hate my current job. I open on Mon/Wed/Fri. It's not a hard job, but it's frustrating. The people who close or work weekends make it frustrating. At least 2x/week I come in to find things not done that should have been finished the night before. Some examples are: the tongs, fry trays, etc aren't washed; the butter warmer has been left on all night, the tables aren't wiped down, custard hasn't been taken out of the deep freeze for the display. You get the idea.
This morning I came in, opened the walk-in cooler, and found all the custard toppings had been stored on the floor! Are you kidding me! Everyone who works there has taken a food service test. They should know better than to store stuff on the floor. If the Health Dept came in today, we would have been screwed.
Besides the undone tasks, I find stupid notes about all the things that I don't do "right." Right meaning: the people I work with don't like it. For example: I have to make different flavors of custard regularly. Lately I've been making more plain/fruity flavors because my boss asked me to start using flavors we don't normally make. Well, my co-workers don't like that.
I work a 6 hour shift. The first hour is dedicated to doing the same tasks everyday to open. That leaves 5 hours for me to help customers and do things that need to get done. I'm also all by myself. If I really need help I have to ask my boss and there is no guarantee he can help me because he has work to do too.
Today I got at text from one of my co-workers, let's call her Sally. She asked me why I didn't make custard mix-in flavors this afternoon, I quote Sally's text, "Quick question for you, why didn't you make any mix in flavors today?" I could not believe she was going to make such a fuss over it. My day had been really busy. I had to turn off the custard machine to help some customers because I couldn't keep going back and forth just to tend it. In my opinion, the customer is more important than the tasks on my "To Do" list. I got everything done on my list except for two things: making mix-in flavors and cutting an onion.
Making custard is pretty easy, you pour the custard in, add the flavoring, turn on the machine, then open the spout so the custard will go through the machine to become soft serve. Once one flavor is done, you rinse out the machine, wipe it down and start the next flavor. Today I was just finishing up the second flavor when I had a stream of customers come in, so naturally I turned the machine off so I could help them. It was almost an hour before I could get back to it. I still had to rinse it out, so I did and proceeded with Chocolate. By the way, everyday I work I have to make Vanilla, Huckleberry, and Chocolate in that order. I don't usually finish until 2 or 3 if it's a slow day. Today I didn't finish until a few minutes after 4, and my shift ends at 4:30.
This day probably doesn't make any sense to you but that's ok. Today was a stupid day at work. I'm irritated. It irks me when people complain about things that they really don't know about. I try to do my best, some days are better than others, but today the only break I had was to pee. I ate bites of my food between doing tasks, because there was too much to do to even take 10 minutes to eat food.
Anyway, I need to stop. I could write a book about all the dumb things that happen at work, but for now I'll leave it at that. I can't wait until I can quit. I really hope this wedding dress thing pans out, because I don't know how much more of this I can take. Until I can make enough money to pay rent I'm stuck working here...

Decisions
Decision #1: Bob and I decided that I should not do the summer intensive this year. *insert sad face here*
We really can't afford it. Instead, we decided that we can save some money throughout the year so that I can try out next year and if I get in again, we'll be ready.
I talked with Sister Dienhart about it, and she said that it was okay. By the time next year's auditions happen I'll be even better. I'll be more comfortable in my pointe shoes(which by the way took me almost 2 years not to be scared to turn in them), my feet will be stronger so I probably won't need more than 2 or 3 pairs just for the summer intensive*, and maybe I'll be able to lift my leg 3/4 of the way to my face. I hope so...
*On average I go through one pair of pointe shoes in 4-6 weeks, taking 3-6 classes/week. For two weeks of a summer intensive I'll go through one pair of pointe shoes.
Decision #2: Bob will be selling pest control this summer, but this time in Long Beach, CA.
Good news is, I get to visit him. I'll be spending 3 weeks in CA this summer. YAY! So excited! I'll be in CA starting the last week of June (I'm actually leaving friday the 22nd after I get off work) and going through to July 14th. It'll be fun. I have lots of people see while I'm there...
Decision #3: I'm not going back to school. Why? I hate school. I'm so miserable when I go, that it don't think it's worth the amount of money put into it. I have an AA and I'm just fine with that.
Decision #4: I'm designing wedding dresses for Fall 2012. I've talked with the owner of Circle of Love in Rexburg about selling my designs in his store on consignment. First step is getting the fabric and making the dresses. But before he gives me a solid answer I need to have a few samples to show him first. I'm ok with that. It'll give me a short-term goal to work on while Bob is gone. And if it all works out then I'll be making a bit more money on the side.
Decision #5: I'm going to be happy with myself. I've struggled so much the last few years about how I feel about myself. I've decided I'm going to the things that make me happy, and not worry about the rest. Of course I'll still do the things I have to, like going to work and cleaning my apt(I found a better way to clean my apt, you should ask me about it sometime, maybe I'll tell you). But in general I will just be me :)
